Important Update on Our Union Campaign

Many of you may have already seen the Notice to Employees posted in the workplace regarding our recent union application. We wanted to provide more context and update you on where things stand.

After receiving the Labour Relations Officer (LRO) report, we were informed that we did not meet the 40% threshold required to recommend a vote. The workplace unit we applied for turned out to be slightly larger than we understood it to be, based on the information available to us therefore, we withdrew our application for certification of the NLPS education support staff.

While we have significant support, we need even more to ensure success in unionizing. CUPE has heard your desire for union representation in your workplace – fair wages, proper health and safety, and a legal process for addressing concerns.

We can only refile with your help.

It is essential to keep your union support cards up to date, as only current cards count toward the application process. Re-signing your card ensures your voice is included.  Your card does make a difference.

This setback doesn’t mean we are giving up.  If you have been thinking about supporting the efforts to unionize, now is the time to sign your card!  You can sign your card by clicking “Sign a card”

If you or anyone you know is interested in staying up-to-date on CUPE communications related to this campaign, please reach out to me directly at bbenoit@cupe.ca to be added to our contact list.

Every card counts.

Let’s regroup, refocus, and come back stronger.
